A Word from You Writer’s Showcase is a weekly showcase that allows no more than three writers to post their work for a week at a time to get feedback from fellow writers. Send entries to info@awordwithyoupress as a word doc attachment, and have name and contact info on the submission. We’ll post it, and let others comment freely. Your work will stay in the archives, and we’ll constantly be adding the work of other writers, but only after your work has had sufficient time to get feedback.
I have to apologize to you all for having to be the one to break the news that our beloved Peggy Dobbs has passed away. As far as details, I only know what Thorn sent me. I hope more will be coming soon. This is what he sent me…… I just got a call from […]
Well, my name’s not really Proxy, but in the absence of the Great Thorner himself, I’m going to post a story our very own Kyle Katz posted to Facebook this morning. This story is funny, touching, beautifully written, TRUE, and just down right one of Kyle’s best works. It may be wrong to post it […]
Yep, last year about this time, Whiskey Creek Press offered to buy my Dance of the Bull Rider and I signed that contract so fast the ink was smokin’. Now, after all the editing, cover design, waiting, tapping my fingers on the desk, IT PREMIERED THIS MORNING. http://www.whiskeycreekpress.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1115 Please add this address to your social […]
I floated the idea around here a few weeks back that I was thinking about blogging the Grandma, Sparky, and Me stories and got a lot of encouragement to do it. So….the blog’s live now. I’ll be posting stories every few days so if you’re going to follow the blog, you need to subscribe so […]
Ok, I know I seemed to disappear from the site like a Thorn in the night, but in my defense I tell you that I’ve been on the road with a load of mama cows and an idiot kid. KID? Hell, he’s 21 y/o and for some reason, he believes that if he ever stops talking, he’ll die. […]
Brothers and Sisters of the Quill, (I’ve been waiting a long time to say that. Funny thing though, it doesn’t look as fun in print as it did when I first thought it up). Anyway, AWordwithYouPress has set a record for the longest running contest in the site’s history. I’m not even sure when this […]
I know y’all think I lie a bunch and that maybe Granny’s not really so bad as I make her out to be and, well, maybe that dang Rooster might not be as bad as he seems either. And, I gotta admit that sometimes I might stretch a story a little just to get a laugh. […]
Ok, here it is, friends and neighbors and writers and painters and makers of merryment from all over the world. You asked for it and now you got it. A CONTEST. Here’s the rules. We’re going to play, “Where the Hell is Thorn” and whoever gets it right, if we ever find out the truth, gets to […]
We’ve talked about this a hundred times and it’s time we did it. Some stories get started and then disappear for a while. (They’re like dust bunnies under your bed – they never go away.) But this one’s special for more reasons than I can count and it needs to be resurrected and finished. I […]
Just when I thought he’d been abducted by visagoths, Mike Stang showed up with a story for the latest Non-Competition just in time for the coveted Monday Morning Coffee with AWwYP slot. And, friends and fellow writers, that is prime territory for any writer. I figured it would be only a matter of time until he […]
Put this story on your ‘must read today’ list. Diane Cresswell has sent in her contribution to the latest Non-Competition and she has outdone herself with this story of science vs. faith. I’m not really sure how to introduce this so that my bias does not color your thoughts before you read the story. So, I’m going to leave […]
