As requested, I posted this message remembering how my father, the doctor, once took a train set in trade for me to fire my imagination in the low lights of evenings yet to come. I still dream of that train becoming real and cruising towards the sunset beyond the New Mexico canyons heading west. I think of the song, “Beyond the Blue Horizon” as orchestrated by Morton Gould and once again I feel young.
Write your own dreams, desires and imaginations. What would life be without the stories we tell each other between the stations of birth and death?
I thought only submarines and snow were yellow…
May I recommend Galliano & Bitter Lemon, Mike? The Galliano Liqueor people say “build ingredients into an ice-filled glass and garnish with Lemon Zest”. The best place to drink this is as the good ol’ Southern Pacific passes the giant lemon in Lemon Grove, California. I know this sounds impossible to accomplish, but it can be done with proper modeling of and training by Donovan who people call Mellow Yellow.
Penn Station Name suggestion for Editor-In-Rails: Archie Underglass (look at photos and you will get my point)
I am enjoying the anonymous mystery of who wrote what, but am curious as to when or if the authors will be revealed. Do the authors have a say in remaining anonymous even with a win? What I will recommend is the finalist remain anonymous as well as those who are not until after a winning, caboose (final) story is announced as the winner of the contest. Opinions?
“Get your ticket at the station at the Rock Island Line”!
Here we are together on a cyber train adventure. Stories & poems from our imaginations, lives & stretched fish tales. We, the AWWYP community, share the common love of literature. This current masquerade party is personal, original and welcoming. This trainride has room for everyone familiar & new, readers & authors run professionally & passionately. Please, please, converse with each other including the staff at AWWYP. There is no where I would rather be other than in person with you. I am grateful for all these miracles & you are the greatest of the miracles when you are present with each other. Your reaction?
I grew up in the southern mid-west when passenger trains were becoming scarce, but mail & freight steady. One night a new friend, newly working as a college newspaper reporter/photographer, asked me to join him visit an elderly man, callused, lonely, nearing RR retirement. This man had sat in this one man station year after year without companionship. The photo I suggested was a coiled rope in his textured right hand. I felt the bleak lonely lack of life despite the man’s stories of yesteryear. Please leave your reviews, ideas, conversations. Please bring this site alive with real people sharing more than just written stories and poems.
I am encouraging the reading of every single entry. We mostly live in different world stations. Many of us connect only in cyber space as open tracks, some choose barricades or checkpoints in relationship. I love realism, but hate negativity. I love honesty, but have no heart to deliberately wound. Anonymous is curious, but not my style. It isn’t a matter of ego, but a matter of transparency, welcoming and thank you more directly for reading and reviewing my stories/poems. If you have blockades with me, please remove them and meet me half-way. I’ve learned a lot in life and only wish peace and goodwill with all of you.
