OH MY HEART
by David Jenkins
Oh, my heart! Oh, my heart!
What have I done to you my heart?
Filled so with love, my heart, what
Leaks from that shattered shell?
Does love so ecstatic so easily
Turn into such painful sadness?
Question after question I make,
But nothing ever rings the bell of knowing.
So, now is the time to close my
Feeble questioning mind and open
Wide my heart where only love, more
Love, shall enter and heal these wounds.
Oh, my heart, I sing your praise to
Comfort you in your bitter sorrow and pain.
Heart, where love begins. they say there
Is no end.
Heart, where life lives in love there
Is no anger.
Heart, were hatred cannot survive
The power of love.
Perhaps deceit does kill love. Then,
We killed that marriage love long ago.
My lies, your pretend-truth to yourself
Of love were deadly twins to the death of love.
