A Poem that RHYMES! Last day of posting our entries

Good Morning, oh patient ones, from the towers in Moscow that are A Word with You Press.

Today we conclude posting the entries into our contest: A Dozen Roses from a Single Thorn: A Valentine’s Day Love Story.

We do hope that you have enjoyed the ride, a bit haphazard though it has been.  We are grateful to have Kristine Rose Grant take the heat for judging this contest, and her deliberations will begin after the final entry is posted later tonight.  We will allow few days for people to post comments before the winner is announced and our prizes are awarded.

Here is the second entry from Tara Valentina, which brings to mind what I learned in freshman English class in high school:

Roses are red

Violets are Blue

Some poems rhyme

and some don’t

Here is a poem that rhymes!

If I could live my life again

by Tara Valentina

If I could live my life Again..

I would kiss you in the dark..

I would  dance with you in the  park..

I wouldn’t care if my dog would bark..

I would have met you earlier in my youth..

I would have yelled your name out loud…. even…if it seemed uncouth..

And if I would have the courage….I would dare.

I would hold you so close…and lovingly.

And let you know how much I care…

I would never let you go…

It would be my feelings, that I would show…

Never holding back…Not to let a moment waste…

I would outline your lips with my tongue… And never forget how they taste…

Yet always to make it last…

put all our troubles in the past…

Every moment shared… is a treasure I hold in my heart.

I’ve loved you,my darling,my precious one… from the start…

No words need to be spoken…

No hearts would ever be broken…

If I could live my life … all over again…

I  would think of you with deep emotion.

and to you … I would give my undying devotion…

Could it be…that it was…

But only a rumor?

Very sweet poem. I think we can all relate to the, “if I could do it all over again” thought. It causes me to evaluate my life with genuine intention each & every day….. Hopefully regrets can be minimal. Thanks for sharing a very private subject.

There are moments separated out in phrases which I really enjoyed, but not the cadence or rhyme. Poetry is a very sacred creature to me from whatever century it arises. I enjoyed your first entry far, far more, but thank you for the sharing.

Why is it we are tempted by the greener grass, the chance to shuffle the cards and deal new. Writers, most of all, can incarnate again and again through story; here is the want that keeps readers reading. I am impressed by your confidence to write a rhyme, the end of my fingers fall off when I think of doing it.
A great contest with you in it.
