Letter to contestants
The first annual A Word with You Press Literary Award for Excellence comes to a close on November 15th, just a few days from now. Occasionally a submission falls through the cracks, so please let us know if you submitted a story and have not seen it published. (We still have a few stories in the queue awaiting posting.) A committee will select six finalists and forward them to our judge, Professor Emeritus Dr. Ron McFarland at the University of Idaho in Moscow, who will have time to deliberate before we announce a decision on Thanksgiving Day. We will also announce the five runners up and will randomly select one to receive a full evaluation of their manuscript, which has a value of $2.00 per page. And one talented writer will get $1,000 Paypal-ed to them quicker than they can stuff a turkey!
Thank you all for participating. The contest has been a great way for you to introduce yourself to the writing community we have fostered for over a decade. In order to fully welcome you we extend our offer to review the first 30 pages of your manuscript at no fee and provide track changes to help your manuscript be the best it can be.
Please stay with us, sign up for our RSS and watch for coming events and contests.
And my personal thanks to Associate Editor Stefanie Allison who has done a great job of framing your stories and seeing that they got a proper introduction before posting them. Stef—you’re the best!
