Did I scare you? Well, this is your chance to return the favor!

Your mission–should you choose to accept–is to write a Halloween story that will keep us administrators up at night! Are ghosts your thing? Spook us with it! Is there something hiding in your closet? Bring it out so we can see! Can’t stand creepy-crawlies? Tingle our spines with it! Did you spend a few hours in a haunted prison? Oh my God, ME TOO!

Some (haunted) house rules: you may post double-spaced fiction, non-fiction, or poetry as long as it is Halloween related! All entries must have a minimum word count of a devilish 666! Scary? 750 is scarier (for a maximum word count that is)! Please send entries to stefanie@awordwithyoupress.com as a “doc” attachment (NOT “docx”) by midnight Samhain OCTOBER 31ST, 2016! There is a $10 entry fee! Fee is waived for you boys and ghouls currently attending University of Idaho!

THREE finalists will be chosen and announced on November 6th, and given a fresh prompt and a just a few days to be brilliant. Judgement Day is November 15th.

Now for the part you’re all waiting for: the (trick or) treat of a prize!!!

First place prizes:

Vampire stake (used) in trophy form with your name engraved on it!

Stefanie Allison

Stefanie Allison has been an active member of the A Word With You Press community since 2010. She won her first contest in December 2012 with the “Ton of Bricks” contest. She has also successfully completed the NaNoWriMo challenge in 2017, 2018, and 2020. She writes primarily fiction dealing with the paranormal and its various subjects—which includes her four novels-in-progress. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Education from California State University, Long Beach. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
