Greetings Literati,
Let us gather around the fire together and tell great stories. Me first? Oh, okay, if you insist. After SO long that I’m embarrassed to reveal the exact time length, my fantasy, Covenant, is now available to read and enjoy. It’s been such a long time coming that the book has collected its own stories along the way :
– The editor who died before the revised contract could be signed. (And the new editor who hated it.)
– The publisher who went bust just before Covenant was due to be published.
– The ‘reputable’ publisher who wanted $7500 to publish it. No, there’s no decimal place required.
But hey, let’s remember the crackling flames and make ourselves comfy. Covenant is based on a colonised world where a dispossessed people await their redeemer and the revelation of their spiritual homeland. But what is the Righteous One wasn’t so righteous after all?
Covenant draws on all manner of mysticality including meditation, the tarot, the Tree of Life. It’s a novel that will take you on a quest. Along the way, alliances will be forged and broken, secrets will be revealed and a group of disparate people united by a dream will face the ultimate challenge.

Once again my legendary WordPress formatting skills come to the fore…
Sozar to you! I can hardly wait to get a copy. . .
A short quiz: How many covenants were formed to get this book to press?
There was just the one – between me and me – to finally get my ass into gear on this.
Well-played, Derek!
Just bought it and can’t wait to read it. Congratulations, Derek! It was a long hard road for you to get published but I know it will be great.
Thanks, I really appreciate all the support from the AWwYPers. As writers, you guys and gals understand what it takes from us to deliver what’s inside of us!
Just logged it away on my kindle pc nice and safe. Waiting, baiting, looking so interesting. The best of luck with this derek. No one more deserving.
Thanks, Mike. Covenant has been a labor of love, but with a lot of labor! I hope I’ve created a world that people want to linger in.
Good luck, Derek, with your new novel.
Thanks, Sal. Now I can concentrate on my other novels!
Ooh, do tell what’s in store for your greatest fans!
Which? The other books? Probably the most relevant is Scars & Stripes, currently being looked at by an agent (cross those fingers now!).
All right Derek – sounds like my kind of book – can’t wait to get it. Will have to wait for the paperback. I like books not digital stuff…doing happy dance. Congrats…
Should be later this month. Details likely to emerge first on my blog – http://www.alongthewritelines.blogspot.com
Great Derek! Your calling card…the cover, is intriguing. Nice job. Now let me see.
One editor died. the other hated it…probably influenced by a supernatural force. Then the publisher goes bust! You’re not driving this mystical bus, are you? Secrets revealed behind the clouds, perhaps? OOO, I’m already anticipating. When will the book be available? Congrats getting through the distractions getting this done! Inspirational!
Hiya Kyle, I’m expecting the paperback in November. My firstborn – and it’s been a hell of a push!
Sounds like childbirth without the epidural. Ouch. Looking forward to holding the little tyke in my sweet hands. Can’t wait to read it in paperback. Always loved your writing.
It’s crowning. . .it’s crowning. . .
Not far from the truth – I saw the galley pdf yesterday and made some tweaks. I’m thinking of naming it Alfred, after my dad.
It is NOW – awaiting paperback proof in the next few days. Then I smack its butt and check its weight.
I’m old-fashioned and would like a paperback so I can curl up on the couch with it.
How much longer do we have to wait? Please to send reminders. . .
And Thorn, I had sent you a notice about my books, too. Should I resend?
Nov 22nd or thereabouts, which used to be my second birthday.
Definitely re-send, and copy me in too please.
